General Questions
Q:What areas do you cover?

Q:Are you fully insured?
A: Yes, we carry comprehensive public liability insurance for all our work. We can provide proof of insurance upon request before starting any project.
Q:How long have you been in business?
A: We've been providing professional carpentry and joinery services since 2011 - that's 14 years of experience. During this time, we've completed hundreds of projects for satisfied customers throughout the area.
Q:Do you provide free quotes?
A: Yes! All our quotes are completely free and come with no obligation. We'll visit your property, discuss your requirements, and provide a detailed written quote. There's no pressure to proceed, and you're welcome to take time to consider our proposal.
Services & Projects
Q:What types of carpentry work do you do?
A: We offer a comprehensive range of services including first-fix carpentry (structural work, floor joists, roofing), second-fix carpentry (skirting, architraves, doors), bespoke joinery (kitchens, wardrobes, furniture), window and door installation, decking, fencing, pergolas, and restoration work.
Q:Can you work on listed buildings?
A: Yes, we have experience working on listed buildings and period properties. We understand the special requirements and sensitivities involved. However, you will need to obtain the necessary Listed Building Consent before we can begin work.
Q:Do you do small jobs as well as large projects?
A: Absolutely! We're happy to take on jobs of all sizes, from hanging a single door to complete home renovations. No job is too small for us.
Q:Can you help with design and planning?
A: Yes, we offer design consultation as part of our service. We can help you plan your project, suggest solutions, and create designs that meet your needs and budget. For complex projects requiring architectural plans, we can recommend trusted architects we work with.
Booking & Scheduling
Q:How far in advance do I need to book?
A: This varies depending on the time of year and the size of your project. For smaller jobs, we can often schedule within 1-2 weeks. Larger projects may require 4-6 weeks notice. We recommend contacting us as early as possible to discuss your timescales.
Q:How long will my project take?
A: Project duration depends on the scope of work. A simple door installation might take a few hours, while a kitchen refit could take 1-2 weeks. We'll give you a clear timeframe when we provide your quote and keep you updated throughout the project.
Q:What if I need to reschedule?
A: We understand that circumstances change. Please give us as much notice as possible if you need to reschedule. Our cancellation policy is outlined in our Terms & Conditions - generally, 7+ days notice allows for full flexibility.
Q:Will you be working on weekends?
A: Most of our work is carried out Monday to Friday during normal business hours. However, for certain projects or by special arrangement, weekend work may be possible. This will be discussed and agreed during the quoting process.
Costs & Payment
Q:How much will my project cost?
A: Every project is unique, so costs vary depending on materials, complexity, and size. After our free consultation, we'll provide a detailed written quote with a clear breakdown of costs. This ensures no surprises later.
Q:Do you require a deposit?
A: For most projects, we ask for a deposit of 25-50% to secure your booking and order materials. The exact amount will be specified in your quote. This protects both parties and allows us to commit fully to your project.
Q:What payment methods do you accept?
A: We accept bank transfers, cash, and cheques. Payment details will be included on your invoice. We don't typically accept credit cards, but can arrange alternative payment plans for larger projects if needed.
Q:Can costs change from the original quote?
A: We strive to stick to quoted prices. However, if unforeseen issues arise (e.g., hidden structural problems) or if you request changes to the scope of work, costs may need to be adjusted. We will always discuss and agree any changes with you before proceeding.
Materials & Quality
Q:Do you supply materials or do I need to?
A: We can work either way. Most clients prefer us to supply materials as we have established relationships with quality suppliers and can often get better prices. However, if you have specific materials you'd like to use, we're happy to work with those.
Q:What quality of materials do you use?
A: We use high-quality, professionally-sourced materials from trusted suppliers. We'll discuss material options with you during the consultation, explaining the benefits of different choices. We never compromise on quality.
Q:Do you offer any guarantees or warranties?
A: Yes! We guarantee all our workmanship for 12 months from completion. This covers any defects in our work (normal wear and tear excluded). Materials are covered by manufacturer warranties where applicable.
Q:What if I'm not happy with the work?
A: Customer satisfaction is our top priority. If you have any concerns during or after the project, please let us know immediately. We'll work with you to resolve any issues. We don't consider a job complete until you're completely satisfied.
Practical Matters
Q:Will you clean up after yourselves?
A: Absolutely. We treat your property with the same care we'd give our own. At the end of each day, we'll tidy up and remove debris. Upon project completion, we'll leave your property clean and ready to use.
Q:Do I need to be present during the work?
A: It's not always necessary, but we do need initial access to discuss the project and final access for sign-off. For day-to-day work, many clients provide us with keys or arrange for someone to let us in. We'll discuss access arrangements that work for you.
Q:Will the work be disruptive?
A: We aim to minimize disruption as much as possible. We'll discuss the expected noise levels, dust, and any impact on your daily routine during the consultation. For larger projects, we can work in phases to reduce inconvenience.
Q:What about building regulations and planning permission?
A: Most carpentry work doesn't require planning permission, though building regulations may apply (especially for structural work). We can advise you on what's needed for your specific project. The responsibility for obtaining necessary approvals lies with the property owner, but we're happy to guide you through the process.
